Specialties

Each person is unique in their needs. As you go through life and adapt to your challenges, our hands-on approach can improve the function of your body through optimizing the structure.

We use a variety of modalities including osteopathy and conservative orthopedics, as well as specialized diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, a comprehensive approach to sports medicine, and more.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of medicine developed in the late 19th century that uses the structure of the body to determine the cause of a medical issue and ultimately treat it.

By addressing the relationships between the nervous system, muscles, joints, and organs, the impacts on blood flow and lymphatic return, as well as a person’s beliefs and feelings, we can provide a complete assessment and treat in a holistic way.

Although osteopathy is known for its hands-on techniques, it is also an entire approach to medicine and can include prescriptions for medications, lifestyle modifications, and referral to specialists as needed.

Orthopedics

Orthopedics is commonly thought of as including only surgical interventions, such as knee replacements and shoulder tendon repair.

However, the field also includes evaluation of bony and soft tissue structures to identify the root cause of one’s pain, with appropriate conservative therapies prescribed.

This may involve imaging with X-Ray, MRI, or Ultrasound, and prescription of home exercise program, physical therapy, osteopathic manipulation, injections, and/or use of splints, braces, or taping.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a decrease in bone strength that frequently occurs with age and certain medical conditions.

Though a common occurance, osteoporosis-related fractures can be a cause of death.

With our diagnostic equipment, known as DXA, we can measure bone density and detect osteoporosis at its early stages, giving us the opportunity to intervene with appropriate treatment before problems develop, and giving you a longer time to enjoy living a mobile life.

Sports Medicine

Sports medicine includes many aspects of the care of those involved in sport, from the novice to the trained athlete.

It includes, for people of all ages, evaluation of one’s fitness to begin or continue a sports program, as well as addressing issues and injuries that arise during sport.

All of the modalities on this page may be used in evaluation and treatment.

Additionally, evaluation for diving medicine is possible, as described below.

More

Acupuncture is an ancient Asian system of medicine that addresses flow along specific pathways in the body, known as meridians, in relationship to the function of the various body systems. In addition to systemic issues, It can be helpful simply for pain relief and relaxation.

Injections can be helpful when one has bursitis, or painful inflammation of the protective sacs near certain joints. Bursitis is a common reason for hip or shoulder pain and can often be relieved with an injection of numbing medication and/or steroids. In combination with movement modification exercise, many people have lasting relief. Others may require 2 or more injections over the course of several months.

Our therapeutic heated massage waterbed reduces muscle tension, fascial strain, and is overall relaxing to the body and mind. Those wishing to use this facility must first be evaluated by one of our physicians.

Ultrasound allows visualization of muscles, tendons, and other structures without using radiation. Since the operator can see the images as they are produced, ultrasound is particularly useful for assessment of function as well as for guidance when performing injections.

The DIERS 4D Formetric allows the ability for postural imaging without radiation or patient discomfort. It is especially useful to demonstrate and track progress in treatment for postural issues, such as scoliosis and leg length difference.

Diving medicine involves determining and certifying medical fitness for diving, as well as arranging the treatment of diving-related hyperbaric illness and trauma.
